Clinical expertise
Miss Rachel O’Connell is a consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon, specialising in breast cancer surgery, risk reduction surgery, and the treatment of benign and malignant breast lesions. Her holistic approach includes a strong focus on optimal cosmetic as well as clinical outcomes, which means that Miss O’Connell skilfully combines cancer removal with plastic surgery techniques to further enhance the quality of life for her patients.
Training and qualifications
Miss O’Connell graduated from the University of Bristol Medical School in 2007 before completing her surgical training at the London Deanery. Supported by the Royal College of Surgeons, she completed a research degree focused on enhancing cosmetic outcomes after breast cancer surgery at The Royal Marsden.
From 2020 to 2021, she undertook an Oncoplastic Breast Cancer Surgery Fellowship at The Royal Marsden, where she continues to serve as a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon alongside her private practice.
Research and professional associations
A respected figure in oncoplastic breast surgery, Miss O’Connell has published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and numerous research papers. She regularly presents the latest advances at international conferences, earning national and international recognition, including prestigious awards for her work in surgical outcomes in breast cancer.
She is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Association of Breast Surgery.
