Clinical expertise

Miss Sarah Tang is a consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon, who specialises in one-stop breast clinics and offers a comprehensive range of breast surgery procedures to treat breast cancer, including wide local excision (lumpectomy), mastectomy, axillary sentinel node biopsy, axillary clearance, and breast reconstruction – often with nipple preservation. She also integrates oncoplastic techniques when performing breast cancer surgery.

In addition to cancer treatment, Miss Tang manages benign breast conditions such as removal of benign lumps, the treatment of nipple discharge and breast infections. She has extensive experience in lactation and breastfeeding-related issues, and provides expert advice on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) related breast concerns.

Training and qualifications

Miss Tang studied at Cambridge University and King’s College London before completing her surgical training, and becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2014. In 2016, she was awarded a Master’s degree in oncoplastic breast surgery.

Research and professional associations

Miss Tang is actively involved in breast cancer research. In 2015, she was awarded a research degree, MD (Res), by The Institute of Cancer Research and the University of London. She expanded her NHS practice to include St George’s Hospital in Tooting, London.

In 2016, she led the National Margins Audit, a significant study investigating variation in margin practices and re-excision rates across the UK and Ireland.
