Clinical expertise

Mr Marios Konstantinos Tasoulis is a Consultant Breast Surgeon. He specialises in oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery, with a particular interest in surgical de-escalation following neoadjuvant systemic therapy and in the management of breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma.

Training and qualifications

Having won scholarships for both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies, Mr Tasoulis studied medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he completed his PhD in 2012 and his surgical training.

He went on to complete a prestigious fellowship at the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), before joining the Breast Unit at Yale University as a Visiting Assistant Professor. Following this, he became part of the surgical team at The Royal Marsden Hospital.

Teaching and training

Mr Tasoulis is the lead trainer at The Royal Marsden Hospital for the National Advanced Training in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Fellowship, and actively mentors early-career oncology professionals.

He also teaches at The Royal College of Surgeons of England, serves on the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and is an examiner for the European Board Exam in Breast Surgery.

His contributions to medical education also extend to the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), where he served on the Trainee Council, helping to develop the “Education Essentials for Oncology Fellows Year 1” curriculum. He currently contributes to ASCO’s Medical Oncology Self-Evaluation Program as a member of the Item Writing Task Force. In 2023, he graduated from the highly regarded ASCO Education Scholars Program for emerging leaders in medical education.

Research and professional associations

Mr Tasoulis is actively involved in breast cancer research, having served as Chief Investigator and Local Principal Investigator on several international studies. He also contributes to international clinical trial steering committees and is widely published in peer-reviewed journals.

He is the associate editor for breast cancer at the European Journal of Surgical Oncology (EJSO) and is frequently invited to speak at scientific meetings and conferences across Europe, Australia, Asia, and South America.
