Early detection and expert treatment

DCIS is a form of breast cancer where abnormal cells are found only in the milk ducts and haven’t spread to surrounding breast tissue. It’s not invasive, but if left untreated, it could develop into invasive cancer. Thanks to routine breast screening, DCIS is being detected more often than before.

DCIS isn’t immediately life-threatening, but it’s important to treat it to stop it from progressing. Treatment focuses on removing the abnormal cells while trying to keep the breast looking as natural as possible.

Treatment usually involves a surgical procedure called a lumpectomy, where only the affected tissue is removed. Sometimes, radiotherapy is recommended afterwards to lower the risk of recurrence. In some cases where DCIS is more widespread, a mastectomy might be needed. Our surgeons are skilled in reconstructive surgery, so we work hard to ensure the best possible results, both medically and cosmetically.

Some patients might also benefit from hormone therapy if their DCIS is hormone receptor-positive. Whatever your individual circumstances, we’re here to guide you through every step, answering your questions and helping you make informed choices that feel right for you.
