Personalised treatment and support

Breast reconstruction is a procedure to restore the shape and appearance of the breast after surgery for breast cancer, such as a mastectomy or lumpectomy. It’s a deeply personal decision, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Some people choose to have reconstruction at the same time as their cancer surgery, while others prefer to wait and have it later. Both are perfectly valid options, and it all depends on your individual needs, circumstances, and feelings.

We’ll help guide you through these choices with care, clarity, and compassion, so you feel fully informed and supported at every stage.

Breast reconstruction is often chosen by women who have had breast tissue removed due to cancer or as part of risk-reducing surgery. Some choose the procedure to restore body confidence, others for a sense of wholeness or balance – especially if only one breast has been affected. The decision to undergo reconstruction is entirely yours, and we’ll support you either way.

There are a few different types of reconstruction. Some use implants to recreate the breast shape, while others use your own tissue (usually taken from the abdomen or back). In other cases, a combination is used. The best approach depends on your medical history, body shape, and personal goals. We’ll talk you through the options and help you to arrive at a decision that’s right for you.

After surgery, we’ll see you regularly to make sure you’re healing well and feeling supported. You’ll receive clear advice about recovery, wound care, and when you can get back to everyday activities. We’ll also be there to help with any physical or emotional concerns you might have along the way.

Like any surgery, breast reconstruction carries some risks, such as bruising, swelling, or temporary discomfort. Serious complications are uncommon, and our team takes every precaution to reduce these risks. Most people recover well and are very happy with the final result – both in how it looks and how it makes them feel.
