Mammoplasty can be helpful for women with large or heavy breasts that cause discomfort or restrict activity. It’s also an option if you’d like to reshape breast tissue after changes due to breastfeeding or weight loss.

Surgery is performed under general anaesthetic. Depending on your goals, the surgeon will remove excess skin, fat, and tissue to reduce the breast size, or lift and reshape the existing tissue for a more elevated contour. The nipples may also be repositioned to align with the new breast contour. 

After your operation, we’ll provide tailored recovery advice, including how to care for your wounds and when to resume normal activities. You’ll come back for follow-up visits so we can monitor healing and make sure you’re happy with the results.

As with all surgery, mammoplasty carries some risk. You may have some temporary swelling, bruising, or tenderness – all of which are perfectly normal after surgery. While you’ll have some scarring, this will usually fade well with time. We’ll talk through what to expect and help you feel prepared and supported throughout your recovery.
