Fully personalised treatment from leading specialists

Nipple reconstruction is a procedure to restore the appearance of the nipple after breast reconstruction. While it’s a small part of the overall journey, for many, it’s an important final step – helping the breast look and feel more complete. It’s entirely optional and can be tailored to suit your preferences and comfort.

We’ll talk you through all your options and make sure you’re completely comfortable with your treatment plan.

This is usually offered to patients who’ve had breast reconstruction following a mastectomy and would like to recreate the natural look of the nipple. Some people choose it so that their breasts look more symmetrical, while others find that it can give them emotional closure. Whatever your reasons, we’re here to help.

There are a few options. The nipple can be reconstructed using small flaps of your own skin, and tattooing can add colour and definition. In some cases, both of these techniques can be combined. It’s typically done as a simple outpatient procedure with minimal recovery time.

Aftercare is typically very straightforward. We’ll check your healing and can refine the shape or colour later if you’d like us to. Whatever your experience, you’ll have our full support throughout the process.

Occasionally, some patients may experience mild discomfort or changes in colour over time, especially with tattooing. Overall however, the results can be very natural-looking and many patients find it a satisfying final step in their reconstruction journey.
